Advisory Council on Teaching and Learning

The Arlington County Advisory Council on Teaching and Learning advises the School Board on the state of instruction across disciplines and recommends changes or enhancements to current policies and practices. The Taylor PTA sends a representative to one meeting a month. At these meetings, ACTL learns about what is going on in the school system (from crowding to budget to particular subject matter areas such as new textbooks, instruction techniques) and hears from committees formed to focus on areas of education (Math, Science, English, Social Studies, Health and PE, World Languages, ESOL-HILT, Special Education, Gifted Services, Pupil Services, etc), including any recommendations those committees may have to improve education. In late April, ACTL then ranks these recommendations and submits them to the School Board for consideration. ACTL is one of the single best ways to fully understand how APS works and what is going on in the school system.

The APS ACTL is seeking input from the Taylor community - we encourage you to take the opportunity to fill out these surveys on specific topics.
