Many Arlington families, including Taylor students and their families, are impacted with high grocery prices, and other ongoing financial constraints. Local food pantries, Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) and Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB), are experiencing record need at their pantries, with over 4,200 Arlington residents receiving free groceries from AFAC every week, a number expected to surpass 5,000 in the coming weeks. Below are a list of resources and information that may help families navigate these challenging times. Families needing referrals can reach out to Zamir Bridgman, Taylor's school social worker.
If you find yourself in a position to help others as we enter this season of giving, there are also options listed at the end for ways to help ensure our neighbors in need have dignified access to nutritious food.

Field Day 2026
Friday, June 5, with a rain date of Monday, June 15. Mr. Bowers and Ms. Robinson are looking for volunteers to help make this favorite school event a success during the school day. PreK-2 activities run from 9:30-11:30 a.m., and grades 3-5 participate from 12:20-2:20 p.m.
Volunteer shifts are available in shorter time slots to provide more flexibility, and parents are welcome to sign up for back-to-back shifts if they’d like to stay at the same station longer. Volunteers should review the Field Day Station Descriptions before selecting a slot.
Final STEAM Day- June 10th- Cardbord Challenge- Cardboard Needed!
Cardboard Challenge Day is back! This year Cardboard Challenge Day will be on Wednesday, June 10th. That means it is time to start saving cardboard NOW! We are collecting any and all types of cardboard. There will be a collection location in the Taylor lobby starting on Monday, May 11th. We need everything from thin cardboard, paper towel rolls to amazon boxes and more. Keep an eye out for parent volunteer opportunities -- we'll need a few helpers to prep and distribute cardboard on the 9th and to help clean up on the 10th.
