Gardens and Habitats

Gardens and Habitats, combined with Beautification, is responsible for maintaining Taylor Elementary classroom gardens and keeping the bird feeders surrounding the school full. These gardens include the Kindergarten and 1st grade raised box gardens (there are 10 beds in front of the school - 5 for kindergarten and 5 for first grade). The chair also helps run Family Clean Up Days and provides guidance as to the work to be done (weeding, clearing out the beds, mulching etc.) as well as the Kindergarten and 1st grade STEAM planting days (Spring). Determining what will be planted in the boxes is up to the chair (with input from the teachers) and includes purchasing the flowers and then helping the students plant them.
